Production Planning

After doing research we started to plan our own production of a thriller. This slide share I made shows the ideas we discarded and the idea we're going to develop into our final piece. - If the text is too small to read click on the full screen choice.

After looking into these things, we made a piece to show our ideas so far.

After we collected together our ideas we already had, we decided to focus onto setting. These cue cards show the ideas we came up with, of which a school/college will the final choice - replicated to make it look like a prison. - Click on the card it's self to see more information and the arrows to move onto the next card.

( ADD RESEARCH INTO PEGGY CARTER AND OTHERS SLIDE SHARE)

We then decided to look into the typical clothing used within Crime Thrillers

Outfit 1: The Prisoner
- This is the outfit that will be seen during the flashback sequences. We are purely using these as we researched into what the typical prisoner would wear whilst in prison. ( Teenager/Young convicts prison ). This means that audiences will easily be able to tell and then relate our media to their knowledge. We want to replicate this outfit above as much as we can.

Outfit 2: Outfit Change Into Police Officer
- We chose to use an outfit change to demonstrate character development whilst creating an interesting plot. We wanted to use an outfit that was very different to the first, therefore we thought a smart look would be suitable. A police officer uniform was chosen because it adds power and authority, fitting in with a thriller because the character is the opposite.

We then made a visual representation to show the props we will use/ re-create in our production.

Why We Chose These Props

1. Passport & Police Hat
Due to our antagonist escaping and the building conventions to suggest she will run away for the rest if the narrative, we felt it would be effective to add a passport to portray this. It makes the production seem more real, as if it was an actions that would actually be done in a situation like this. By adding verisimilitude into our production, the audiences will be able to relate to it better.

2. Red Lipstick & Hair Style
After researching into typical female characters we learnt how makeup can be used to express a character. Such as Peggy Carter, as it demonstrated her authoritative nature in a situation it normally wouldn't be there. Adding more attractiveness to a character also appeals to more audiences. As the character changes her appearance, it represents a change in the characters life and behaviour.

3. Bag & Long Coat
We wanted to add a bag into the narrative for practical reasons, to strengthen the message portrayed but to also add secrecy into the character. It shows an underlying behaviour that was present at the start. The long coat was used to build more power and develop on the  mysterious personality.

( ADD RESEARCH INTO TITLES NAMES )

After having information of our basic plot, we planned the soundtrack we were expecting to use.

After deciding all of these ideas, we produced a story board of how we think of production will look.

In shot one and two, they will both show the production logo and the distribution logo. The soundtrack here will be eerie and begin to fade in. These will each be around 4 seconds long.

Shot three shots the establishing shot, which will show a close up of the fire, burning the newspaper stating what the antagonist has done (murder) and that she has escaped prison. The soundtrack will be the same, but have built up more.

Shot four will show a over the shoulder shot of the antagonist, looking into the fire as the paper burns
- as the girls full face isn't shown in the shots until the end- a method to build tension.

Shot five and six will show a flashback, with effects of the antagonists past doings - e.g. the weapon she used or the destruction made, like smashed glass. These sequences will be slower as a way to build tension and add detail

Shot Seven will cut back to the main sequence, with a side profile of the girl - as she does what before. Ambient sound and the same soundtrack from the start will be present.

Shot eight - will show the line up of the convicts - with the antagonist looking suspicious and confident.

Shot nine - twelve will show how the antagonist escaped and changed her identity to get out- as each shot will show how she changed her identity.

Shot thirteen - sixteen will again show how she changes her identity, such as putting on make up, changing her eye colour through contacts and changing outfit.

Shot seventeen will pan to show the whole antagonists face, with her changed identity. This is when the soundtrack will cut off completely.

Shot eighteen, the last shot will cut again to fire at the start in order to show the main title. The soundtrack here will be ambient and a very dramatic non-diegetic soundtrack
